SRI LANKA CULTURAL HERITAGE

Sri Lanka is not just a speck of the world map. Not, a mere drop of pearl in the Indian Ocean. Though it is tiny in size, Sri Lanka has unimaginably antique culture and civilization with the splendor of remains of many kingdoms. Intellectual stimulation of our ancient kings, their spirited peace, and joy of enchanting artistic creations, Sounds of traditional music, all combine to make our unique cultural heritage.

The culture of our mother is a legend that lives. It goes back to thousands of years carrying a huge solid history. Not many countries in the world can claim to have descended from ancient civilization like Sri Lanka.

Ancient thanks which had large volumes of Water that enabled Sri Lanka to be self Sufficient in rice. Murals and paintings as Seegiriya rock, carvings of Ambekke Temple evident the craftsmanship of our ancestors. Ruins and Sthupas in Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, and Yapahuwa still yell the majesty of Sri Lanka ancient history.Great Green reservoirs such as kalaewa.thisawewa and Yodha ela mirror the reflections of great intellectual capacity of the heroic Kings.

The Temple of tooth in Kandy, Galle Fort and golden beaches of Thincomalee not only bearing a great cultural value but still attracts tourists to our motherland too. Even the vast stretch of our motherland once proclaimed as a natural heritage.

Sri Lanka’s ancient cultural value is an anthology of multiculture with their never failing beauty and fertility. Being Lankans When We close our eyes for an istant a thousand and one series of pictures of spelendor will flash through our mind its rituals and ceremonies, music, local foods, lifestyles, sculpture and its architectute.Thus what a rich value of culture we possess ! How proud we are to inherit this heritage.

It is great duty to protect this Wealth so as remain unstained that our ancient great personalities bestowed us, preserved for us, to enjoy even today with our naked eyes. So let’s save our cultural heritage whether it’s a precious stonce or a grain of sand. Let us look after them for the generations !.....
