There are many heritage sites in Sri Lanka. Out of them Anuradhapura is the most important heritage site. There is the sacred Bo tree. It’s considered the oldest tree in the World. It is the most sacred and blessed place for Buddhists. Jethavana stupa at Anuradhapura is interesting for several reasons. It is Over1500 years old. It is the largest solid brick structure of that period. It was build by king mahasen and it is one of the biggest stupa in Asia.

At present the site is being excavated by the Central Cultural Fund and UNESCO as part of the cultural triangle projet.
